And you can do just that, on 157 kilometres of marked hiking trails that take you to hidden gorges, blooming alpine meadows and a host of other romantic spots. The Dürrenstein Massif is famous for its wealth of alpine fauna and flora. On one of its lush alpine meadows is the Ybbstalerhütte, a mountain cabin for overnight stays or camping. Other popular destinations for hikers are the alpine meadows Schwarzalm and Siebenhütten, the high-altitude plateau Hochreit and mount Hochkar.
